The Foreign Devils and our host the Mexico City Rangers line up for a group photo on Pemex Field where we played a 3 game series over the Mexican Independence Day weekend.

We who are about to die salute you! The Ranger first game starter throw 88 mph and was a former Dodger minor league pitching star.

The opening day ceremonies included representatives from several Mexican baseball federations and two former Mexican league superstars seated on the far left.

The Mexico City cathedral on the downtown Zocalo Square was the site of the Independence celebration during our baseball series.

Aztec dancers on Zocalo Square were part of the Independence weekend show.

The Palace of Fine Arts in downtown Mexico City  was along our route on our first day's sightseeing.

Dinner at a restaurant on Gibraltar Square after a hardy day of sightseeing.  Note the lack of alcohol in all the empty bottles.

The view from the mound gives a glimpse of Pemex Park, the home of the Rangers and the site of our Independence Day series.

Evening trajinera boat ride on the canals of Xochimilco where floating islands were created to support agricultural development.

Trajinera boats are used by tourists and locals who enjoy picnics on the boats as they glide through the canals.  The brightly colored boats are a stunning sight to see.

The band played between innings adding energy and an element of excitement to our series. Note the umpires discussing the larger strike zone for the Americans.

Trophies were given for winning the tournament and for series MVP.  We proudly took home the series tournament  trophy when no one was looking.

The historic Guadalupe Cathedral was a spectacular sight and sits next to a more modern catholic church that seats 10,000. By this time it was too late to pray for victory.

The pace before game 2 was a little slower than the opening day, but the Devils rose to the occasion after a night of enjoying the local refreshments. 

San Juan Teotihuacan is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Americas complete with two impressive pyramids.

One of the largest pyramids in the world, a temple once adorned the top of the Pyramid of the Sun.

The Pyramid of the Moon is located at the end of Teotihuacan's Street of Death.

We dined at Gruta after climbing the pyramids.  This cave restaurant had excellent Mexican food and a 30 piece mariachi band floor show.

The Rangers made special commemorative tequila bottles for our closing series banquet with a player on one side and a scroll indicating the teams and event dates on the other.  On the left is our host, Raul Hernandez of the Rangers.

Our Ranger opponents hosted a closing night banquet at the Pemex reception hall.  Great Mexican food, lots of tequila, and wonderful international baseball comradery were had by all. Note for next year: close the bar before more players end up looking like this one!
